CPP Members in Australia Celebrate 71st Anniversary of the CPP

BRISBANE: Kim Santepheap, a member of the Central Committee of the Party and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Party Youth Organization in Australia and New Zealand, attended the celebration of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) in Brisbane, Australia.

The ceremony was held on Sunday, 26 June 2022 with hundreds of party members based in Australia in attendance.

The CPP was formed on 28 June 1951 by Cambodian nationalists to liberate the Cambodian nation from French colonization. It is the oldest party in the country, led the struggle to liberate the Cambodian people from the Khmer Rouge regime in 1979, and has continued to lead the country to the present day.

Currently, the party is led by Prime Minister Hun Sen, and has four vice presidents, DPM Sar Kheng, Senate President Say Chhum, DPM Tea Banh and DPM Men Sam An, and National Assembly President Heng Samrin is the party's honorary president. The CPP Central Committee has 865 members in total.

The CPP will hold a ceremony to celebrate the 71st anniversary of its founding on Tuesday, 28 June 2022, from 6 AM onwards, at the 7 Makara Palace in Tonle Bassac, Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh.
